Most enclosure problems are really interface problems: a connector that sits two millimetres too high, a mounting boss that fouls a capacitor, a light pipe that misses its LED. Because we design the PCB as well, those interfaces get resolved in CAD instead of on the bench with a file in hand.
As 3D printing costs continue to fall, the applications keep widening — rapid prototyping, spare-parts management, low-volume production, jigs and fixtures for your own line.

The technology
Why FDM, specifically.
In fused deposition modelling, the part is built by depositing melted thermoplastic layer by layer, following the 3D CAD file. It uses thermoplastic polymers and is well suited to cost-effective small batch production.
Commonly used materials are PLA, ABS and Nylon 6. If you are reaching for additive manufacturing to prototype quickly, FDM is almost always the right first choice — the tooling cost is zero and a design change is a re-slice, not a new mould.
